West Virginia Emerges as National Leader

West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) is joining other innovative states to implement a “Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion” (LEAD) program—pioneered in Seattle—for people with addiction or mental health disorders.

Through LEAD, people behavioral health disorders can be diverted from the criminal courts to community-based treatment services, such as assertive community treatment, residential addiction treatment services, comprehensive case management, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Read more here.
