You may look up the license status of a mental health or substance use professional here.
In most U.S. states, people who provide treatment must be licensed (or “registered” or “certified”) to provide professional services by their state.
States sometimes have one office that handles all the different kinds of licensing. Other states use separate licensing offices for psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychiatrists, clinical nurse practitioners, etc.
